Sex addiction is an insidious disorder. To understand sex addiction read one of Patrick Carnes. Sex addiction is not the same as love addiction. A sex addict wants to avoid emotional intimacy and only wants the high of an organism. I used to think I was a sex addict because I was promiscuous as a young adult. But I came to realize I only slept with me to have their companionship for a short while.
If you are a sex addict, post here . . .
Sex is a mood-altering experience. When you have sex, you are distracted from underlying feelings like anxiety, depression, anger, and fear. Sex is also a coping mechanism. You are trying to cope with the feelings that haunt you from the past.
It is best to get help if you are a sex addict. I suggest Celebrate Recovery or Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous.
No matter how addicted you are, there is hope for a brighter tomorrow. Take the first step and Christ will guide you the rest of the way.
