Love addiction is an insidious disorder. To understand love addiction read one of the many self-help books or go to my other message board. Love addiction is not the same as sex addiction. A sex addict wants to avoid emotional intimacy and only wants the high of an organism. Love addicts bond prematurely and love too much. If you are a love addict, post here . . . Love is a mood-altering experience. When you fall in love, you are distracted from underlying feelings like anxiety, depression, anger, and fear. Romantic love is also a coping mechanism. You are trying to cope with the feelings that haunt you from the past. It is best to get help if you are a love addict. I suggest Celebrate Recovery or Love Addicts Anonymous. Do not confuse romantic love with agape. Romantic love is addictive. Agape (the love of God) is more satisfying and leads to so much joy in life. No matter how addicted you are, there is hope for a brighter tomorrow. Take the first step and Christ will guide you the rest of the way.
